PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2025 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track & Field Championships are set to take place this weekend at Barton Hall in Ithaca, N.Y., from Mar. 1-2. The championships can be watched on ESPN+.
BROKEN RECORDS – In total, seven Ivy League indoor records have already been broken this year as Dartmouth's
Bella Pietrasiewicz ran the fastest 1000m in conference history with a time of 2:39.85 at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic at the end of January. The Crimson's
Anastasia Retsa broke the pole vault record with a mark of 4.41m.
Izzy Goudros of Harvard broke a 12-year pentathlon record with 4,313 points at the Crimson Elite. Harvard's distance medley relay team consisting of
Sophia Gorriaran,
Chloe Fair,
Victoria Bossong, and
Penelope Salmon broke the conference record with a time of 10:47.92 at the Boston University DMR Challenge.
The distance medley relay record also fell on the men's side with Princeton's team of
Xavier Donaldson,
Connor McCormick,
Sam Rodman, and
Harrison Witt racing to a time of 9:17.30 at the Boston University DMR Challenge. Witt also shattered the mile record with a time of 3:52.87 in mid-February. Graham Blanks from Harvard broke the 5000m record in the season opener with a sub-13 minute time of 12:59.89.
DEFENDING CHAMPS – Last year at Harvard's Gordon Indoor Track in Cambridge, Mass., the Penn women narrowly edged out Princeton by six points to take home the title with 140. On the men's side, Princeton ran away with the title, scoring 168 points.
NATIONAL SUCCESS — Last season, two Ivies were crowned as NCAA National Champions as Harvard's
Kenneth Ikeji and
Maia Ramsden both earned the honor. In the men’s weight throw, Ikeji finished atop the podium with a throw of 24.32 m (79'9.5") before Ramsden broke the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships meet record with a run of 4:25.13 to take home her title.
