PRINCETON, N.J. — Four Ivy League student-athletes are set to begin action at the 2024 NCAA Women's Tennis Individual Championships over the next few days at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
Penn's
Esha Velaga and
Sabine Rutlauka begin competition tomorrow as both Quakers earned berths through impressive performances as ITA Northeast Regional Championship finalists.
Rutlauka boasts a record of 12-2 so far this season and posted a 4-2 record in the ITA All-American Championships. She opens up her run with a match against UC Santa Barbara's Amelia Honer (a 9-16 seed) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19.
Velaga
is 11-3 in singles this season. The reigning Ivy League Player of the Year was the runner-up at the ITA Regional with a 5-1 record. She begins her singles championship play at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday against eighth-seeded Old Dominion's Sofia Johnson.
The next day in the doubles championship, Harvard's
Kayva Karra and
Stephanie Yakoff begin play against Vanderbilt's Celia Belle Mohr and Sophia Webster. The Crimson student-athletes qualified for the championship after winning the ITA New England Regionals.
