Ivy League Announces Men's Soccer All-Ivy and Major Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. — With the 2024 Ivy League Men’s Soccer Tournament just around the corner, the Ivy League announced the All-Ivy teams and major award winners for the 2024 men's soccer season.

Winning Co-Offensive Players of the Year were Cornell’s Alex Harris and Penn’s Stas Korzeniowski. For Korzeniowski, this marks the second time he’s been recognized as the league’s top offensive player, winning the honor previously in 2022.

Harris was not only one of the best offensive players in the Ivy League but also the country, leading the Ivy League with 16 goals scored on the year, seven of which came in conference play. The 16 goals ranked second in the nation and he was one of just two players to average at least a goal per game. Last year’s Ivy League Rookie of the Year had three multi-goal games in Ivy League play, including a hat trick in a 3-0 win over Dartmouth and a pair of two-goal games in wins over Harvard and Columbia to help Cornell earn the second seed in this weekend’s Ivy League Tournament.

Korzeniowski was not far behind Harris, scoring 12 of Penn’s 28 goals on the season and netting six goals in seven Ivy League games. He had goals in five-of-seven Ivy League games and led the league with three game-winning goals, those coming in wins over Brown (2-0), Yale (1-0), and Princeton (1-0). Korzeniowski ranked in a tie for 14th nationally in total goals scored and 10th in goals per game while his five game-winning goals on the year has him in a tie for second in the NCAA.

Senior defenseman Leo Burney was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year for second time, the first coming in 2022, after anchoring a Penn defense that allowed just 0.57 goals per game in Ivy League play and posted five clean sheets. The senior also chipped in three goals and a pair of assists on the season, with one of each coming in conference play.

Aidan Martin made it three straight Cornell winners of the Ivy League Rookie of the Year award, joining Harris (2023) and Ryan Friedberg (2022). The defender stepped into a starting role immediately and played an important role in Cornell’s second-ranked Ivy League defense this season. He was as dependable as they come, playing in 1,394 of a possible 1,440 minutes this season and even contributed two goals and two assists on the year.

After leading Penn to their third-straight Ivy League regular season title and the first undefeated Ivy League slate since Princeton in 2021, the Penn, led by head coach Brian Gill, was named the Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year. Penn finished the regular season with a 13-2-1 overall record and a 7-0 mark in Ivy League play. The Quakers started the season with four-straight wins, including a season-opening upset of then-No. 3 Pitt, and enters the Ivy League Tournament on a four-game winning streak.

Harris, a unanimous selection, was one of a league-high five Cornell players named to the All-Ivy First Team with Connor Miller, another unanimous selection, Friedberg, Andrew Johnson, and Alioune Ka being the other four. Korzeniowski and Burney were the other two unanimous selections and two of the three Penn players honored on the All-Ivy First Team along with Jack Ryan Jeremiah. In total, six of the eight Ivy League members were represented on the All-Ivy First Team, with Brown (Lorenzo Amaral), Dartmouth (Vasilis Moiras), Princeton (Giuliano Fravolini Whitchurch), and Yale (TJ Presthus) each having one honoree.

Additionally, one Ivy League men’s soccer student-athlete from each institution was recognized for their commitment in the classroom and on the pitch as members of the 2024 Ivy League Men’s Soccer Academic All-Ivy team. Brown’s Tanner Barry, Columbia’s Adrien Wheaton-Schopp, Cornell's Sam Latona, Dartmouth’s Kristian Feed, Harvard’s Marko Isakovic, Penn's Leo Burney, Princeton’s Gabriel Duchovny and Yale’s Jonathan Seidman were each named to the team.

The Ivy League Men’s Soccer Tournament gets underway Friday, November 15th with a pair of semifinal games at 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. ET. The winners will advance to the championship game which will be played on Sunday, November 17th with the winner of that earning the Ivy League’s automatic qualifier into the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
