PRINCETON, N.J. – Following strong weeks on the gridiron, Columbia’s Joey Giorgi (offensive) and Hayden McDonald (defensive), Dartmouth’s Owen Zalc (special teams) and Brown’s Matt Childs (rookie) earned Ivy League football weekly awards.
 
This marks the second consecutive week that Zalc and Childs have earned their respective honors.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK 
Joey Giorgi, Columbia (Sr., RB – Grafton, Wis.)

• Rushed 18 times for 157 yards to help Columbia defeat Princeton 34-17
• Had a game-long of 40 yards to set up a touchdown to allow the Lions to extend their lead to two possessions in the second half
• Averaged 8.7 yards per carry and helped Columbia eat up the clock after holding the ball for 38:17
   

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hayden McDonald, Columbia (Sr., DB – Seattle)

• Picked off two passes and had a team-high seven tackles in Columbia's 34-17 victory over Princeton
• His second interception came with Princeton in the red zone to prevent the Tigers from extending an early lead
• Anchored secondary unit that limited Princeton to 164 passing yards for the game
   

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Owen Zalc, Dartmouth (So., K – Cary, N.C.)

• Hit field goals of 42 yards in the second quarter and 39 in the fourth
• 39 yarder six seconds into the fourth gave Dartmouth a 20-14 lead and proved to be the difference in a 20-17 Ivy League opening victory 
• Was also a perfect 2-for-2 on extra points
   

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Matt Childs, Brown (Fr., RB – Medway, Mass.)

• Bears leading rusher and receiver against Bryant on Saturday
• Rushed for 58 yards and touchdown on eight attempts
• Hauled in five passes for 93 yards and another touchdown
