Four Teams Collect Week 2 Victories

PRINCETON, N.J. – Four Ivy League football teams earned victories during the second weekend of the 2026 season, with Harvard and Cornell each opening league play with wins.

No. 21 Harvard posted a 14-10 victory over Brown on Friday night. Cornell knocked off No. 17 Yale in Ithaca. Columbia earned its second consecutive overtime win with a 20-17 triumph at Georgetown. Princeton closed the weekend with a shutout victory in its home opener.
 
FRIDAY, SEPT. 25
NO. 21 HARVARD 14, BROWN 10
7 p.m. // Pawtucket, R.I. // Centreville Bank Stadium
  • No. 21 Harvard (2-0, 1-0 Ivy) built a 14-0 halftime lead and held off Brown (1-1, 0-1 Ivy), 14-10, in the league opener. The Bears pulled within four with 8:16 remaining before Harvard's defense closed out the victory.
  • Defensive back Xaden Benson intercepted three passes and recovered a fumble, accounting for all four of Harvard's takeaways.
  • Quarterback Charlie Smith completed 30-of-37 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns. He connected with Ryan Tattersall for a five-yard score in the first quarter and Teigan Pelletier for a four-yard touchdown in the second.
  • First-year wide receiver Nathan Bailey recorded nine receptions for 80 yards and added 21 rushing yards, while Dorsey Benefield led the Crimson defense with 12 tackles and a sack.
  • Brown's Max Malo registered a game-high 16 tackles and an interception, while Matt Childs totaled 116 yards from scrimmage.
 
SATURDAY, SEPT. 26
COLUMBIA 20, GEORGETOWN 17 (OT)
12:30 p.m. // Washington, D.C. // Cooper Field
  • Columbia (2-0) earned its second consecutive overtime victory, topping Georgetown, 20-17, to claim the Lou Little Trophy.
  • The Lions trailed 17-10 entering the fourth quarter before Chase Goodwin connected with first-year wide receiver Bryce Coleman for a two-yard touchdown to tie the game. Coleman now has three receiving scores on the season. Hugo Merry then converted a 25-yard field goal in overtime for the deciding points.
  • Goodwin threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns, while Griffin Johnson rushed for 121 yards on 30 carries. Coleman finished with six receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.
  • Merry was perfect on two field-goal attempts and two extra points, accounting for eight of Columbia’s 20 points.
 
CORNELL 38, NO. 17 YALE 25
1 p.m. // Ithaca, N.Y. // Schoellkopf Field
  • Cornell (1-1, 1-0 Ivy) jumped out to a 28-3 third-quarter lead and held off No. 17 Yale (1-1, 0-1 Ivy) for a 38-25 victory in its Ivy League opener.
  • Garrett Bass-Sulpizio completed 14-of-21 passes for 152 yards and added two rushing touchdowns. Ean Pope broke a 31-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, while Brendan Lee and Jordan Triplett also scored on the ground.
  • Tommy MacPherson intercepted two passes, returning them for 63 yards. He also recorded six tackles and a tackle for loss. This marked the second consecutive game that MacPherson record two takeaways.
  • Yale was without quarterback Dante Reno, a Walter Payton Award Watch List selection. Charles Hewitt stepped in and threw for 244 yards and two touchdowns, while Jaxton Santiago recorded five catches for 58 yards and a score.
 
MONMOUTH 31, DARTMOUTH 28
1 p.m. // Hanover, N.H. // Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field
  • Dartmouth (0-2) rallied from a 21-7 deficit to take a 28-21 lead in the third quarter before Monmouth scored the final 10 points to earn a 31-28 victory. The Hawks kicked the go-ahead 25-yard field goal with 1:09 remaining.
  • Myles Craddock rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries as Dartmouth piled up 235 yards on the ground.
  • Grayson Saunier accounted for three touchdowns, throwing for two and rushing for another. He finished with 148 passing yards and 66 rushing yards.
  • Dartmouth scored touchdowns on three consecutive possessions spanning the second and third quarters to turn a 21-7 deficit into a 28-21 advantage.
 
NO. 6 LEHIGH 20, PENN 7
1 p.m. // Philadelphia, Pa. // Franklin Field
  • Penn (1-1) fell to No. 6 Lehigh, 20-7, at Franklin Field. The Quakers held Lehigh to 217 yards of total offense but were limited to 182 yards themselves.
  • Penn trailed just 3-0 at halftime before Lehigh scored two third-quarter touchdowns to extend its advantage to 17-0.
  • Tommy Lafayette scored Penn’s lone touchdown on a one-yard run with 2:14 remaining.
  • Zach Darche paced the Quakers’ defense with 13 tackles, while Cole Olsztyn added 11. Freshman Mason Page led Penn with eight receptions for 44 yards.
 
PRINCETON 22, UALBANY 0
3 p.m. // Princeton, N.J. // Powers Field at Princeton Stadium
  • Princeton (1-1) earned its first victory of the season with a 22-0 shutout of UAlbany. The Tigers scored 13 points in the second quarter and nine in the third while keeping the Great Danes off the scoreboard.
  • The Princeton defense forced three turnovers, including two interceptions, recorded two sacks and held UAlbany scoreless on both of its trips to the red zone.
  • Kai Honda rushed 12 times for 61 yards and two touchdowns and added two receptions for 49 yards. Honda scored on runs of 14 and one yard.
  • Princeton was perfect on all four trips to the red zone, converting three touchdowns and a field goal, while playing turnover-free football in the victory.
