PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League continued to showcase its academic strength throughout the 2022-23 academic year as the league led the nation once again in NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and Academic Progress Rate (APR) while a host of Ivy League student-athletes won individual awards for their academic excellence.
For the 13th-straight year, the Ivy League leads the nation in GSR with a combined average of 98 percent across the league’s eight institutions.
An Ivy League institution also leads all NCAA Division I institutions for the 12th-consecutive year, with Columbia becoming just the seventh school to ever post a perfect score of 100. Harvard and Yale earned GSRs of 99. Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth and Princeton followed with a score of 98. Penn posted a GSR of 97. The Ivy League was the lone conference with each of its member institutions earning an overall GSR of 97-or-better.
Since the NCAA began including the Ivy League in its GSR data collection in 2010-11, the League has paced the 32 NCAA Division I conferences all 13 years.
Additionally, the Ivy League was once again the highest scoring of the 32 Division I conferences for academic excellence in the NCAA APR announcement.
APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the ongoing academic performance for each team in every sport.
The Ivy League earned the highest collective APR score of conferences with an average of 992.
There were a total of 69 programs that achieved a perfect score of 1000. Columbia paced the league with 18 programs earning perfect scores. Penn had the next highest with 13 programs, while Dartmouth also had a double-digit number of teams with 11. Women’s volleyball and women’s basketball each led the league with six programs earning perfect scores.
A total of 174 Ivy programs recorded a score at or above the national average score of 984.
