PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League will continue to build on its storied Olympic tradition as 33 past and present Ivy League athletes and coaches are set to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milano Cortina, Italy.
The Olympic Winter Games will run from Friday, Feb. 6 through Sunday, Feb. 22, followed by the Paralympic Winter Games from March 6–15. The Ivy League contingent includes 30 Olympians, two Paralympians and two coaches, competing across seven sports and representing eight countries — the United States (17), Canada (10), Italy (3), Czechia (1), Switzerland (1), Greece (1), Mexico (1), and Israel (1).
The Ivy League has a long-standing tradition of Olympic success, consistently ranking among the nation’s top NCAA conferences in Olympic participation. Across the League’s history, Ivy athletes have earned 537 Olympic medals, including 34 at the most recent Summer Olympic Games in Paris and 14 at the most recent Winter Olympic Games in Beijing 2022. If the Ivy League were its own nation, it would rank 14th all-time in Olympic medals.
A total of 1,146 medals will be awarded across 195 Olympic and Paralympic events in Milano Cortina, with Ivy representation in five sports: Women’s Ice Hockey, Skiing, Bobsleigh, Men’s Ice Hockey, Para Nordic Skiing and Men’s Sled Hockey.
