Women's Lacrosse Tournament Set For This Weekend in Philadelphia

PRINCETON, N.J. — The 2023 Ivy League Women’s Lacrosse Tournament is slated for this Friday and Sunday, May 5 & 7, live on ESPN+. Following an undefeated conference season, Penn earned the right to host the tournament. The tournament will take place at Dunning-Cohen Champions Field at Penn Park in Philadelphia.

Following a close race for tournament berths, second-seeded Yale will take on third-seeded Princeton in the opening game of the tournament at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 5. Then, top-seeded Penn takes on fourth-seeded Harvard at 7 p.m. The championship match with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Tournament on the line is scheduled for Sunday, May 7, at Noon EST on ESPN+.

A mainstay in the national rankings for the majority of the season, No. 14 Penn enters the tournament as the top seed after a perfect 7-0 conference record to claim the regular season title. The Quakers also dominated the postseason awards as Niki Miles took home Attacker of the Year honors, Anna Brandt won Midfielder of the Year, Izzy Rohr claimed Defender of the Year, and Karin Corbett claimed Coach of the Year.

Yale, Princeton, and Harvard all enter the tournament with 4-3 conference records, only being able to be separated by goal differential. Yale, receiving votes in most recent national poll, claimed the second seed behind the play of First-Team All-Ivy selections Jenna Collignon, Olivia Penoyer, and Fallon Vaughn.
The Tigers enter the tournament led by first-year head coach Jenn Cook and First-Team All-Ivy selections Kari Buonanno and McKenzie Blake. Harvard is making their second straight tournament appearance behind First-Team All-Ivy Leaguers Callie Hem and Shea Jenkins.

Previewing the first semifinal showdown, Penn topped Harvard 16-13, back on March 18. On the other side of the bracket, Yale defeated Princeton 15-10 in New Haven, Conn., on March 4.
