Former Ivy League Player of the Year Abby Meyers Selected in First Round of WNBA Draft

PRINCETON, N.J. — Former Ivy League Player of the Year and Princeton guard Abby Meyers was selected by the Dallas Wings with the 11th pick in the WNBA Draft earlier this evening.

Meyers becomes the sixth Ivy League student-athlete to take their talents to the next level, joining her former teammate Bella Alarie who has since retired from the WNBA.

In her final season with the Tigers, Meyers earned AP Honorable Mention All-America honors while being named Ivy League Player of the Year and First Team All-Ivy.

That season, Meyers scored in double figures in all 30 games for the Tigers and led Princeton with 17.9 points per game, as well as 5.8 rebounds. She shot 81% from the free throw line and 45% from the floor while leading the Tigers in scoring in 19 of 30 games.

After graduating from Princeton, Meyers transferred to Maryland and played this past season with the Terrapins where she averaged 14.3 points per game and grabbed 5.1 rebounds on the way to being named to the All-Big Ten Second Team.

In Meyers’ final season with the Tigers, she helped lead the Tigers to the Round of 32 after defeating No. 6-seed Kentucky before falling to third-seeded Indiana, 56-55.

This past season, Ivy League women's basketball notched nine total postseason wins as Princeton advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament while Columbia reached the WNIT Championship Game.
