PRINCETON, N.J. — 11 Ivy League student-athletes have qualified for the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships which will be held March 10-11 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the USTFCCCA announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Three women qualified for the championships as
Izzy Goudros and
Maia Ramsden will represent Harvard while
Bronwyn Patterson will respresent Penn.
On the men's side, eight Ivies will make the trip to Albuquerque:
Tomas Kersulis (Cornell),
Graham Blanks (Harvard),
Kenneth Ikeji (Harvard),
Acer Iverson (Harvard),
Alexander Kolesnikoff (Harvard),
Greg Foster (Princeton),
Sondre Guttormsen (Princeton), and
Samuel Rodman (Princeton).
Harvard's tandem of Blanks and Iverson will both compete in the 5,000 meter run as the seventh and 13
th seeds, respectively. Blanks qualified with a time of 13:18.45 while Iverson clocked a time of 13:26.11.
Two other men's student-athletes qualified on the track as Cornell's Kersulis, the Ivy League champion in both the 200m and 500m dashes, qualified for the 400m dash with a time of 45.78. Princeton's Rodman will compete in the 800 meter run as the 12
th seed following a time of 1:46.96.
In the field events for the men, four Ivies qualified for different events in Albuquerque. Harvard's Ikeji and Kolesnikoff both come into the championships having claimed Ivy League titles in the weight throw and shot put, respectively. Ikeji's mark of 22.66m earns him the 6
th best mark in the nation while Kolesnikoff's mark of 19.83m bosts the 12
th best mark.
Princeton's Foster qualified for the long jump with a mark of 7.89m, the 11
th-best mark in the country while Sondre Guttormsen, his teammate, holds the best mark in the country in the pole vault at 5.90m.
On the women's side, Harvard's Ramsden qualified for the mile run as well as the 3,000 meter run with times of 4:30.19 and 8:54.39, respectively. Her time in the mile is good for second-best in the nation.
Goudros from Harvard goes into the meet ranked 13
th in the pentathlon. She racked up 4,173 points to earn her spot in Alburquerque.
Finally, Penn's Patterson, the Ivy League champion in the 800 meter run last weekend, qualified for the same event in New Mexico with a time of 2:03.12.
