Ivies Dominate Week Four, Dartmouth and Harvard Pick Up Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – Ivy League men’s soccer programs made a huge statement this past week as Dartmouth’s David Alino (Player) and Harvard’s Matus Vician (Rookie) notched weekly awards.

Ivy squads combined for a dominant 10-1-2 record this week and commanded the pitch both offensively and defensively, out-scoring opponents by a 36-7 margin while recording nine total clean sheets.

Three programs posted a 2-0 record including Princeton, Cornell, and Brown, while Yale, Dartmouth and Penn also won their lone match during the week. On the season, Yale remains unbeaten, (4-0-2) while Cornell (6-1) boasts a conference-high six wins. Ivy League competition is set to begin on Saturday, October 1 following three non-league matches on Tuesday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
David Alino, Dartmouth (Sr., F – Stratford, Conn.)
  • Scored four consecutive goals during the Big Green’s 6-0 victory over Stonehill
  • Completed a second half hat trick in just six minutes of game action while scoring all four goals in a 37-minute span
  • Was the first Ivy League student-athlete to record four goals in a game since Arthur Bosua (Columbia) scored four goals against Harvard on November 5, 2017. He was also the first Dartmouth student-athlete to achieve the feat in 67 years.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Matus Vician, Harvard (Fr., M — Bratislava, Slovakia)
  • Posted four total points on one goal and two assists in a 6-0 victory over Fairfield
  • His four points came in 22 total minutes and were the first of his career
