PRINCETON, N.J. -- In what is anticipated to be a deep and talented campaign, Princeton has been tabbed as the preseason Ivy League men's soccer favorite, according to a vote of communications directors and media.
The league will return 75% of last year's First-Team All-Ivy recipients, including two major awards winners — Defensive Player of the Year
Elian Haddock (Yale) and Rookie of the Year
Alessandro Arlotti (Harvard).
In the poll, Princeton racked up 12 first-place votes coming off their 2021 Ivy League title season where they were undefeated in league play and made their 11th appearance all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
Yale grabbed the remaining four. The Bulldogs were selected second in the league with Cornell picked three and Harvard at four. Penn, Brown, Dartmouth and Columbia rounded out the projections.
The 2022 men's soccer season kicks off Sept. 2 and 3 with six of the eight programs scheduled for non-conference matches on Friday night and the remaining two (Harvard and Yale) set for Saturday contests.
