Men's Ice Hockey All-Ivy, Postseason Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard earned a sweep of the Ivy League’s men’s ice hockey postseason awards following a vote of the League’s six head coaches.  
 
Junior forward Nick Abruzzese was named the Ivy League Player of the Year. The Slate Hill, N.Y., native registered the most assists in the league during Ivy games with a total of eight. He also netted three goals against Ivy opponents.
 
First-year forward Matthew Coronato was dubbed the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Coronato led the conference in points (12) and goals (8) during Ivy play. He finished his rookie campaign with a total of 25 points with 13 goals and 12 assists.
 
After leading the Crimson to an Ivy title, Ted Donato was voted the Ivy League Coach of the Year. The Crimson was 8-1-1 in Ivy play and outscored its opponents by a total of 36-17.
 
Harvard placed four players on the first and second teams. All three of its first team honoree were unanimous selections -- Abruzzese, Coronato and junior defenseman Henry Thrun. Crimson junior goaltender Mitchell Gibson was tabbed to the second team.
 
Cornell junior defenseman Sam Malinski was also a unanimous first team selection. His teammate Kyle Betts earned second team honors at forward.
 
Princeton had a pair of players named to the first and second teams. Sophomore forward Ian Murphy was named to the first team and senior forward Corey Andonovski was a second team selection.
 
Dartmouth freshman goaltender Clay Stevenson rounded out the first team.
 
Brown placed a trio of athletes on the second team in senior forward Justin Jallen, junior defenseman Samuli Niinisaari and junior defenseman Luke Krys.
 
Yale first-year defenseman Kieran O’Hearn closed out the second team.
 
Additionally, student-athlete from each institution was recognized for their commitment in the classroom and on the ice as members of the 2021-22 Ivy League Men's Ice Hockey Academic All-Ivy team. Brown’s Samuli Niinisaari, Cornell’s Kyle Betts, Dartmouth's Harrison Markell, Harvard’s Casey Dornbach, Princeton’s Mark Paolini and Yale's Michael Young were each named to the team.
