Men's Ice Hockey All-Ivy and Major Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Following another nationally-competitive season headlined by Cornell’s league title, the Ivy League announced its regular season major award winners and All-Ivy teams for men's ice hockey.

Dartmouth’s Hayden Stavroff earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors, the second consecutive member of the Big Green to be given the award after CJ Foley won it last year. Stavroff posted 27 goals and 17 assists overall this season, leading the Ivy and tying for ninth in the nation with 44 points. The sophomore finished third in the country with 1.47 points per game. In 10 Ivy League games, the sophomore tallied 10 goals, 11 assists and 21 points, all of which paced the Ivy. Stavroff was the only player in the league to reach at least 20 points, the only player to score at least 10 goals and one of two to contribute at least 10 assists.

Cornell goaltender Alexis Cournoyer was named Rookie of the Year following a standout campaign for the Ivy champions. The freshman’s overall .917 save percentage ranked 20th in the country and first among Ivy Leaguers. He was even better against Ivy foes, posting a league-best .931 save percentage, starting all 10 contests and playing every minute in which the Big Red had a goaltender on the ice. Cournoyer’s 1.72 GAA in league play led the Ivy, and his 2.01 overall GAA placed him sixth in Division I.

Dartmouth, led by Reid Cashman, earned the Coaching Staff of the Year award for the second straight season. The Big Green put together a 6-3-1 record in Ivy League competition and finished second in the standings with 19 points. Dartmouth ended the regular season with 19 total wins, already its most victories in a campaign since the 2010-11 season.

Cornell led the way with three First-Team All-Ivy selections. Jonathan Castagna, Xavier Veilleux and Cournoyer were all unanimous selections for the Big Red. Stavroff was also a unanimous choice and was joined on the First Team by his Dartmouth teammate Hank Cleaves. Harvard’s Matthew Morden was the only player not from Cornell or Dartmouth, the league’s top two finishers, to receive the honor.

Dartmouth also placed two, Foley and Emmett Croteau, on the Second-Team All-Livy list. Princeton boasted three members–David JacobsKai Daniells and Tyler Rubin–while Yale (David Chen) and Harvard (Mick Thompson) each had one.

Additionally, six student-athletes were named to the Ivy League Academic All-Ivy team: Brown's Zackary Tonelli, Cornell's Hoyt Stanley, Dartmouth's Cam MacDonald, Harvard's Philip Tresca, Princeton's Tyler Rubin and Yale'sDavid Chen
