17 Ivies Earn All-America Honors at NCAA Men's Swim and Dive Championships

ATLANTA – The Ivy League wrapped up a successful showing at the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday evening. Ivies earned a total 17 All-America honors.
 
Harvard finished 13th overall as team with 103 points. Columbia placed 24th with 30 points. Penn placed 28th with 22.5 points and Princeton finished 30th with 14 points.
 
Nine of the all-America performances belonged to the Crimson. Dean Farris and Umitcan Gures each posted first team all-America performances. Farris placed seventh in the 100 yard backstroke in 44.68 and Gures took eighth in the 100 yard butterfly in 44.88. Farris earned second team honors in the 100 yard freestyle taking ninth in 41.42. Adam Wesson rounded out the Crimson’s second team honorees with a 16th place finish in the 1 meter diving with his score of 276.35. Harvard’s 200 yard medley relay (9th, 1:22.42), 200 yard freestyle relay (9th, 1:15.88), 400 yard freestyle relay (9th, 2:48.24), 400 yard medley relay (11th, 3:03.24) and 800 yard freestyle relay (15th, 6:15.83) earned second team honors.
 
Penn’s Matt Fallon earned first team all-America honors in the 200 yard breaststroke, placing third in 1:49.16. He posted the fastest time in prelims with a mark of 1:49.03. Fallon also earned second team honors in the 100 yard breaststroke, taking 10th place in 51.57.
 
Columbia’s Jonathan Suckow finished in fourth place in both the 1 meter (402.75) and 3 meter diving (438.50) to take first team all-America honors in both events. Suckow has now earned three first team all-America honors in his career.
 
Princeton’s Raunak Khosla, who was the High Point Swimmer at this season’s Ivy League championship, earned second team all-America nods in each of his events. The Roswell, Ga., native finished 12th in the 200 IM on Thursday in 1:41.24. He followed that up with a 15th place finish in the 400 IM in 3:40.83 on Friday. Khosla closed out the championship taking 11th in the 200 yard butterfly in 1:41.07.
 
The Tigers had a quartet of divers competing in the championship. Victor placed 44th in 1 meter diving (256.65) and 45th in 3 meter diving (290.05). Colten Young was 34th in 1 meter (294.50), 35th in platform diving (284.10) and 39th in 3 meter (313.20). George Callanan placed 21st in platform diving (314.30) and 42nd in 1 meter diving (261.25). Anastasios Callanan finished 42nd in platform diving (261.40).
 
Columbia’s Demirkan Demir placed 21st in the 200 yard breaststroke (1:53.29) and 32nd in the 100 yard breaststroke (52.69)
 
Harvard’s Shane Washart had a 22nd place finish in the 1650 yard freestyle in 14:58.80, while his teammate Arik Katz placed 25th in 15:03.93. Washart also placed 41st in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:20.11.
 
Harvard’s Jake Johnson took 36th in the 200 yard butterfly in 1:46.41 and 38th in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 46.76. Gures was 39th in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 19.52. Wesson was 46th in 3 meter diving with a score of 287.50.
 
Yale’s Noah Millard appeared in three races as a just a freshman. He placed 24th in the 1650 yard freestyle (15:21.26), 35th in the 500 yard freestyle (4:18.50) and 47th in the 200 yard freestyle (1:35.82).
