One National Champion, 11 All-Americans; Ivy League Makes Statement at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Al. — A total of 12 Ivies competed at the 2022 NCAA indoor track and field championship at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama from March 11-12. Earlier Monday, the USTFCCA announced the 2022 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field All-America list. 11 Ivies found their name on the list.
 
The Tigers won an NCAA title in the pole vault as Princeton's Sondre Guttormsen became the first individual NCAA indoor champion for the Tigers since 2002. His brother, Simen Guttormsen finished fourth in the men’s pole vault.
 
In the distance medley relay, the team of Harrison Witt, Michael Phillippy, Sam Rodman and Sam Ellis finished fourth with a mark of 9:26.01. That mark ranks second all-time in Princeton history.
 
In the heptathlon, Ivy League champion Andrei Iosivas placed fourth while setting another new Ivy record with 6069 points. Iosivas set a new NCAA championship meet record, going 6.71 in the 60-meter dash.
 
In the field, C.J. Licata placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 19.75 meters.
 
As a team, the Tigers finished in fifth place after settling in first place after day one. All eight of Princeton’s student-athletes were awarded All-American status for their performances.
 
Cornell's Beatrice Juskeviciute and Leone Farquharson closed out their indoor campaigns by garnering second-team All-American status.
 
Juskeviciute finished 11th in the pentathlon with 4116 points. Her shotput throw of 42-8 ¼ was third-best, while her 800m time (2:19.90) and 60m hurdles time (8.51) placed in her the top 10.
 
Farquharson entered the championship seeded 16th in the long jump and finished right as expected. She earned the honors with a jump of 19-11 ½.
 
Harvard freshman Izzy Goudros also represented the Ivy League in the women’s pentathlon as she finished in 16th place. Across the five events, Goudros beat out athletes from multiple ranked teams, including No. 12 BYU and No. 18 Colorado.
 
Yale's Kayley DeLay was named second team All-American for her performance in the 5000m run. She finished 15th in the nation with a mark of 16:19.4. Delay entered the event ranked 11th out of the 16 competitors.
