PRINCETON, N.J. – Following another successful Ivy League field hockey season that saw four nationally ranked teams and nine non-conference wins against nationally-ranked opponents, the 2022 All-Ivy and major awards were announced this afternoon.
- Princeton received three major awards as Beth Yeager was unanimously named the Offensive Player of the Year, Hannah Davey earned Defensive Player of the Year accolades, and Carla Tagliente garnered Coach of the Year honors.
- Harvard defender Bronte-May Brough claimed Rookie of the Year honors
- There were five unanimous All-Ivy first team honorees
- All teams have at least one representative on First or Second-Team All-Ivy squads
Princeton's sophomore standout
Beth Yeager becomes the second repeat Offensive Player of the Year honoree in Ivy League history, as she earned the award last season in addition to Rookie of the Year accolades. Yeager led a Tiger squad that was one of the most dangerous offensive powerhouses in the nation, scoring 12 goals (including three game-winners) to go along with eight assists for a league-high 32 points. Yeager also ranks 12th in the nation with 2.00 points per game and is 16th in Division I in goals per game (0.75).
Princeton senior
Hannah Davey caps off her collegiate career with her first major award, as she led a stifling Tiger defense that allowed just 1.53 goals per game, including just six total goals in conference action (0.86 per game). Princeton also posted two shutouts behind Davey’s leadership. Offensively, Davey had a hand on six goals, registering one goal and five assists for seven points.
Harvard freshman defender
Bronte-May Brough had a sensational first season for the Crimson who spent a majority of the season inside the top-15. With Brough, Harvard leads the Ivy League and ranks sixth in the nation with a 1.01 goals against average. The Crimson blanked six opponents on the season, compiling the sixth-highest number of shutouts on the season in the country. Brough was a threat offensively as well, firing 12 goals, primarily off penalty corners which tied for the league lead in that category. Brough also finished second in the Ivy League with 1.47 points per game and recorded three game-winning goals.
Seventh-year Princeton head coach
Carla Tagliente earns her third Ivy League Coach of the Year award after leading the Tigers to their 23rd outright and 27th overall Ivy League championship. The Tigers posted a perfect 7-0 Ivy League season (13-4 overall), marking the 20th perfect conference record in Princeton history. Princeton reached a NFHCA ranking as high as No. 7 this season and is currently seventh in RPI. The Tigers earned three non-conference nationally ranked wins this season, highlighted by a 4-3 overtime victory against No. 3 Maryland on September 20. Statistically, Princeton ranked second in the country in penalty corners per game (8.88) at the conclusion of the regular season while Princeton’s offense finished eighth nationally in goals per game (1.50).
The All-Ivy first team had four repeat honorees this season, including
