PRINCETON, N.J. – Two Ivy League standouts – Princeton’s
Kevin O’Toole and Cornell’s
Tyler Bagley – were drafted in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
With the 34th pick of the second round, New York City Football Club selected O’Toole, the two-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year.
Over his career, O'Toole appeared in 58 matches, scoring 15 goals and adding 18 assists -- the fourth-most assists in a career by a Princeton player. O'Toole posted seven goals and nine assists for 23 points as Princeton played its way to an Ivy League championship with just the second 7-0-0 Ivy season in program history.
Bagley was picked with the 54th overall pick by the Inter Miami CF. Bagley started all 16 games for the 11-3-2 Big Red, scoring 14 goals with seven assists for 35 points. A unanimous first-team All-Ivy League pick, Bagley finished the season ranked No. 2 in the country in scoring, while his 14 goals ranked fourth nationally. His points per game of 2.19 topped the nation.
A total of 44 Ivies have been drafted in the MLS SuperDraft since its inception in 1996. O’Toole and Bagley join four former men's soccer players in the professional ranks.
