PRINCETON, N.J. -- Three Ivy League women’s soccer programs –Brown, Harvard and Princeton— will represent the Ivy League in the NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup.
The Ivy League is one of eight conferences — out of 32 in Division I — with at least three teams in the tournament.
Two of the Ivies—Brown and Princeton— will play host during the first round as the Bears will host St. John’s (NY) and the Tigers will host the America East Champion Vermont.
Harvard will travel south to Winston-Salem, N.C. where they will face Wake Forest in the first round of College Cup play.
The last time three Ivy League teams were in the NCAA women’s soccer tournament was in 2004 when Yale, Harvard and Princeton all made appearances.
In Brown’s 2019 run in the NCAA Tournament, Brown won their opening round match against Monmouth to advance to the second round against No. 1 Florida State.
Princeton's last NCAA Tournament appearance was in 2018 when the Tigers faced Texas Tech in the first round. Three members of Princeton senior class have NCAA tournament experience as the Tigers made appearances in 2017 and 2018, and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2017.
Harvard’s last NCAA Tournament run was in 2016 when the Crimson faced Rutgers in the first round. This will be the Crimson’s 17
th NCAA Tournament appearance.
First-round action is set for the weekend of Nov. 12-14.
