PRINCETON, N.J. – The stage is set for a thrilling Ivy League Tournament championship showdown as No. 1 Princeton and No. 2 Dartmouth punched their tickets to Sunday’s final with commanding semifinal victories Thursday at Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
Kickoff for Sunday’s title game is set for 1 p.m. The winner will earn the league’s automatic qualifier bid to the NCAA Tournament. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
SEMIFINAL 1
#2 DARTMOUTH 1, #3 COLUMBIA 0
No. 2 Dartmouth earned a 1-0 victory over No. 3 Columbia to advance to the tournament final.
Dartmouth took the lead in the 25th minute on a Stephanie Lathrop strike from outside the 18-yard box. The goal was set up after Lourdes Lauterborn forced a Columbia turnover in the Big Green’s attacking third. Lauterborn had an attempt that was initially blocked, before Lathrop buried her team-leading eighth goal of the season.
Columbia generated momentum in the second half, recording eight of its ten shots after the break. Dartmouth goalkeeper Ola Goebel anchored the Dartmouth defense with two key saves in the final 10 minutes to preserve the shutout -- her seventh clean sheet of the campaign.
Despite late efforts from Evelyn Javers and Gabby Chan, Columbia was unable to break through a disciplined Dartmouth backline.
SEMIFINAL 2
#1 PRINCETON 3, #4 BROWN 0
No. 1 Princeton topped No. 4 Brown in the second semifinal behind a pair of first half goals from Kayla Wong and a late insurance goal by Isabella Garces.
Princeton struck first in the 27th minute when Wong finished from close range after a sequence initiated by Alexandra Barry and Dylan Jovanovic. The sophomore added her second just 10 minutes later, converting a feed from Sarah Houston to give the Tigers a commanding 2–0 lead at halftime. The goals were her first of the year.
Brown pressed early in the second half. The Bears earned five corner kicks and fired 10 second-half shots, but Princeton goalkeepers Sydney Romano and Cecilia Cerone combined for a clean sheet.
Princeton sealed the result in the 85th minute when Garces finished a cross from Maddie Recupero to make it 3–0. The goal was her third of the year.
