Harvard Punches Ticket to NCAA Field Hockey Tournament

PRINCETON, N.J. – For the third time in the last five seasons, No. 11 Harvard will represent the Ivy League in the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson will open play against ACC regular season champion Louisville on November 12 at 2:30 p.m., in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Harvard earned its first-ever program victory in the NCAA tournament in 2018 when the Crimson defeated Penn State before falling to the No. 4 Princeton in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Harvard claimed its fourth outright Ivy League title and sixth overall title in program history with a 4-0 win against Brown over the weekend. The Crimson finished the regular season 15-1 and 7-0 in League play. Harvard is keeping pace with the 2018 team matching its best 16-game start in school history. The Crimson has won 10 games in a row.

The Crimson leads the nation with a 0.44 goals-against average, having allowed just seven goals in regulation all season in 15 contests. Junior goalkeeper Ellie Shahbo (12-1) is second in the country with an .846 save percentage. Hannah Pearce leads the team with 26 points and ranks fourth in the League with an average of 1.73 points per game. Pearce has points in eight straight games.
