Princeton's Fred Samara Voted Coach of the Year Following Sixth Straight Heps Title

PRINCETON, N.J. - Princeton men’s track and field head coach Fred Samara was voted Coach of the Year after guiding the Tigers to their sixth-straight Heps title, marking the fifth-straight season he received the honor. Princeton men claimed its sixth Ivy League title and 23rd in school history with a total of 173 points, surpassing Harvard (116) and Penn (91) and Yale (67). Cornell (56), Dartmouth (44), Columbia (40) and Brown (33) rounded out the final standings.
 
The Tigers were led by Andresi Losivas who tallied 5,523 total points in the heptathlon. His performance ranks third all-time in championship history. Losivas was voted the Most Outstanding Field Performer of the event. Joey Daniels claimed his third consecutive win in the 60 hurdles, besting the previous Ivy League record set by Saidu Ezike of Cornell;s 7.78 mark from 2008 with a time of 7.77. His performance is a new school and meet record as well. The shot put proved to be an outstanding event for Princeton as the Tigers took the top-two spots on the podium - CJ Licata won the event after a throw of 18.55 meters. 
 
Harvard’s Kieran Tuntivate was selected Most Outstanding Track Performer for the second straight year after registered wins in the 3,000m and the 5,000m as the Crimson finished with their highest point total in program history, and best indoor finish since they last won in 1985. Jovahn Williamson crossed the line at 47.53 in the 400m, finishing first for the second year in a row, while also breaking the facility record at Barton Hall.
