Penn, Princeton Repeat as Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track & Field Champions

PRINCETON, N.J. – Penn women’s track claimed its third straight, while Princeton won its sixth straight title at the 2020 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track and Field Championships at Barton Hall on Cornell’s campus.
   
Princeton men claimed its sixth Ivy League title and 23rd in school history with a total of 173 points, surpassing Harvard (116) and Penn (91) and Yale (67). Cornell (56), Dartmouth (44), Columbia (40) and Brown (33) rounded out the final standings.

The Tigers were led by Andresi Losivas who tallied 5,523 total points in the heptathlon. His performance ranks third all-time in championship history. Losivas was voted the Most Outstanding Field Performer of the event. Joey Daniels claimed his third consecutive win in the 60 hurdles, besting the previous Ivy League record set by Saidu Ezike of Cornell;s 7.78 mark from 2008 with a time of 7.77. His performance is a new school and meet record as well. The shot put proved to be an outstanding event for Princeton as the Tigers took the top-two spots on the podium - CJ Licata won the event after a throw of 18.55 metes. 
 
Harvard’s Kieran Tuntivate was selected Most Outstanding Track Performer for the second straight year after registered wins in the 3,000m and the 5,000m as the Crimson finished with their highest point total in program history, and best indoor finish since they last won in 1985. Jovahn Williamson crossed the line at 47.53 in the 400m, finishing first for the second year in a row, while also breaking the facility record at Barton Hall. 

On the women’s side, Penn totaled 133 points to narrowly edge Harvard (126) thanks to a dominating performance in the final relay of the day. The three-peat is the first time in program histroy that the Quakers have earned three straight titles. Cornell (82.5) and Princeton (68) ranked third and fourth, respectively, while Columbia (64.66), Brown (57), Yale (50.33) and Dartmouth (38.5) rounded out the final ledger.
 

Brown's Zion Lewis was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer of the meet after totaling 14 points in a pair of field events. She won the triple jump on Sunday at 44-1.25 to set the all-time Ivy League, school and facility record, which currently ranks eighth in the NCAA this season. Lewis was also fourth in the long jump on Saturday at 19-6.75 for fourth all-time in program history.  

Nia Akins of Penn was named the Most Outstanding Track Athlete for the second straight season and adds that to her collection that also includes the same award in outdoor competition and the Penn Relays College Athlete of the Meet award from 2019. On Sunday, Akins won the 1,000m and Mile races while helping the Quakers earn two points as the anchor in the DMR.

Dartmouth's Cha'Mia Rothwell won the 60m hurdles for the fourth straight to become the third woman in league history to accomplish the feat. Rothwell ran a season-best 8.31 in Sunday's final to once again win the event crown. She joins Penn's Christelle Williams (1986-89) and Harvard's Autumne Franklin (2013-16) as only the fourth woman to claim the 60mH Ivy title four times in as many years. Harvard sophomore Katina Martin took home individual titles for the Harvard women, claimining the 60m dash (7.47) and the 200m dash (24.05).
