ITHACA, N.Y. -- In the latest edition of the Cornell Magazine, Cornell President
Martha E. Pollack penned an op-ed detailing how her Big Red student-athletes are afforded the opportunity the succeed in both the classroom and in competition during their time in Ithaca.
"At Cornell, student-athletes are students first. Strict guidelines determine the timing and number of practices, help guard against injury, and ensure that students are never expected to sacrifice academic success for athletic victory. Yet somehow, despite—or perhaps because of—Cornell’s high expectations, our student-athletes overwhelmingly succeed both in the classroom and on the playing field," Pollack commented.
