BRISTOL, Conn. -- Sixteen Ivy League football student-athletes and their eight head coaches enjoyed a glimpse inside the world of ESPN Thursday, as the worldwide leader in sports played host to the 2019 Ivy League Football Media Day in conjunction with the celebration of college football’s 150th anniversary (CFB150).
In addition to traditional press conferences in front of a capacity studio audience and countless others
watching live on ESPN+, the student-athletes participated in video interviews with the Ivy League and the NCAA and tested their SportsCenter anchoring skills alongside ESPN talent
Elle Duncan and
Jay Harris.
Interspersed throughout the day were presentations on ESPN+ and CFB150, including a detailed walkthrough of ESPN’s CFB150 campaign—officially launching Saturday, August 17—by
John Dahl, vice president and executive producer, ESPN special projects and original content.
In the midst of Ivy League Football Media Day, ESPN also released its
list of the top 50 programs in college football history as part of its auxiliary CFB150 content. Five Ivies made the list, including three among the top 15. Yale—with its 27 national championships—earned the No. 7 spot, while Princeton—which played in the first-ever college football game on Nov. 6, 1869—landed just outside the top 10 at No. 11. Harvard was not far behind at No. 13, while Penn (No. 26) and Dartmouth (No. 37) also earned mention.
The Ivy League's CFB150 campaign launched on Wednesday, June 26th and will continue throughout the 2019 Ivy League football season, concluding on the League's regional rivalry weekend on Saturday, Nov. 23.
