FCS-Leading Seven Ivy League Football Games Set for ESPN Networks in 2019

PRINCETON, N.J. -- A Football Championship Subdivision (FCS)-leading seven Ivy League football games will appear on ESPN linear networks during the 2019 season. This is the 12th-consecutive year that the League will feature a national football television package.

The slate is part of the League’s comprehensive partnership with ESPN, which will also include nearly 40 football games on ESPN+.

  • For the second-straight year all eight Ivy League programs will appear at least once within the seven-game ESPN linear package.
  • Brown at Harvard on Friday, Sept. 27, kicks off the seven-game slate, as 1-of-5 Friday night contests.
  • The schedule also includes a pair of Saturday games—Princeton vs. Dartmouth at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 9, and Harvard at Yale on Saturday, Nov. 23.
  • All 41 Ivy League home games will be available across ESPN’s platforms, with those not broadcast on ESPN linear networks appearing on ESPN+.

“During this year of celebration of the rich history of college football, these national television appearances provide us with a unique opportunity to illustrate the Ivy League’s storied tradition and continued impact on the game,” said Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris

“We have been working in concert with ESPN over the past year to find creative ways to highlight key League events, historic moments and our modern success throughout this 150th anniversary of college football. We look forward to showcasing that work throughout the season.”

The television package, part of the Ivy League’s 10-year agreement with ESPN, will feature seven games, beginning with Brown at Harvard on Friday, Sept. 27, and concluding with The Game, Harvard at Yale, on Saturday, Nov. 23.

All 41 Ivy League home games will appear across ESPN’s platforms—primarily on ESPN+. Additionally, the League will announce games that will be carried by a number of regional television partners later this summer once the details have been finalized.

For the second-straight year, the League will conclude its schedule with a quartet of regional rivalry games: Dartmouth at Brown, Columbia at Cornell, Princeton at Penn and Harvard at Yale. Regional rivalry weekend will also signal the conclusion of the League’s yearlong celebration of college football’s 150th anniversary (CFB150).

CFB150 will be highlighted during the Princeton vs. Dartmouth game, which will take place at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 9. The meeting will commemorate Princeton’s participation in the first college football game against neighboring Rutgers on Nov. 6, 1869.

The Ivy League is coming off a 2018 season highlighted by Princeton’s unbeaten campaign—the 13th in League history—en route to its first outright League crown since 1995. The League also led the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in non-conference winning percentage (.750) and NFL representation (24 players) for the second-straight season. That number could balloon once again in 2019, as 12 Ivies signed undrafted free agent contracts or accepted tryout invitations from NFL teams within two weeks of the 2019 NFL Draft

The League will kick off the 2019 campaign with the 2019 Ivy League Football Media Day on Thursday, August 15, at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn. Media registration is now open, with an RSVP deadline of August 1.
