PRINCETON, N.J. -- Yale senior wide receiver Reed Klubnik was named to the 25-player preseason watch list for the 2019 STATS FCS Walter Payton Award—presented annually to the most outstanding offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). 
 
The Walter Payton Award, first presented in 1987, boasts NFL stars Steve McNair, Brian Westbrook, Tony Romo, Jimmy Garoppolo and Cooper Kupp among its past winners. 
 
Klubnik (Third Team) was 1-of-3 Ivies dubbed STATS FCS Preseason All-Americans entering the 2019 campaign. 

The Austin, Texas, native is coming off a unanimous First Team All-Ivy junior season in which he led the Bulldogs with 73 catches, nine touchdown receptions and a program-record 1,143 receiving yards. He ranked fifth in the FCS with 114.3 yards per game, seventh with 7.3 receptions per game and ninth with 1,143 receiving yards a year ago. 
  
The Walter Payton Award watch list will be updated throughout the 2019 season, with a national panel of over 150 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries selecting the winner following the conclusion of the regular season. 
 
The preseason watch list includes 11 quarterbacks, seven wide receivers, four running backs, two tight ends and one athlete. Princeton senior quarterback John Lovett was among the 25 finalists for the 2018 STATS FCS Walter Payton Award. 
 
The 2019 Ivy League football season kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 21, with seven games to appear on ESPN linear networks throughout the season. The Ivy League is coming off a 2018 season highlighted by Princeton’s unbeaten campaign—the 13th in League history—en route to its first outright League crown since 1995. The League also led the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in non-conference winning percentage (.750) and NFL representation (24 players) for the second-straight season.
