Princeton & Dartmouth Share Ivy Title, Tournament Matchups Set

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Princeton (6-1) and Dartmouth (6-1) each clinched a share of the 2019 Ivy League women’s lacrosse title with victories in their respective season finales Saturday.

The Tigers outpaced Cornell, 18-15, while the Big Green posted a 23-9 win over Yale.

This is the sixth-straight and League-leading 15th overall Ivy League title for Princeton and the first since 2011 and 12th all-time for Dartmouth. Five of the last six Ivy League championships have been shared, signaling increased parity in a League that has produced 24 Final Four teams and four national champions. Just nine of the 34 Ivy League crowns awarded from 1980-2013 were shared.

No. 2-seeded Dartmouth will take on No. 3-seeded Penn in the tournament opener at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 3. By virtue of a 14-12 victory over Dartmouth on April 6, Princeton will be the No. 1 seed in the 2019 Ivy League Women’s Lacrosse Tournament and will face off against No. 4-seeded Cornell (4-3) in the second semifinal at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

Both games will take place at Rocco B. Commisso Stadium on the campus of Columbia University in New York City. A variety of ticket offerings—including all-tournament passes and single-session tickets—are on sale now at ivylg.co/LAXtickets or by calling the Columbia Ticket office at 888-LIONS-11.

Penn has appeared in all 10 Ivy League women's lacrosse tournaments, while Princeton (9), Cornell (8) and Dartmouth (6) are also returnees to the postseason event.

The winners of Friday's semifinals will square off at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, with the victor earning the Ivy League's automatic berth to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship. Three Ivies were ranked in the latest national polls, No. 10/10 Princeton, No. 12/13 Penn and No. 19/12 Dartmouth.

The Ivy League has earned multiple NCAA Tournament berths in 17-of-18 years since 2000.
