Princeton Defeats Yale; Wins Ivy League Women's Lacrosse Tournament Title

PRINCETON, N.J. — Down by two goals heading into the fourth quarter, Princeton scored six unanswered goals to defeat Yale, 12-8, to take home the Ivy League Women's Lacrrose Tournament title.

The Tigers got off to a strong start, leading 2-1 after the first quarter and pushed the margin to 4-1 in the second, but Yale surged late in the half with goals from Whitney Froeb, Kelly Holmes and Nell Ducey to tie the game at four entering halftime.

Yale appeared to take control in the third quarter, answering Princeton goals and then closing the period with three straight scores from Froeb, Kate Gould and Ashley Newman to build an 8–6 lead. Princeton, however, completely flipped the game in the fourth, scoring six unanswered goals while holding Yale scoreless over the final 15 minutes to claim their first tournament title since 2022.

Maggie Molnar led Princeton with four goals and eight draw controls, while Jami MacDonald powered the attack with one goal and four assists. Haven Dora and Colette Quinn each scored twice, and Amelia Hughes made seven saves in goal. Princeton also dominated the draw circle, winning 16 draw controls to Yale’s five.

With the win, Princeton claimed their seventh all-time tournament title and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Yale will have to wait until the NCAA selection show at 9 p.m. tonight in hopes of hearing their name called.
