Crimson Completes Comeback to Claim Women’s Golf Championship

, N.J. -- Harvard saved its best for last, carding a tournament-best round of 290 to win the 2019 Ivy League Women’s Golf Championship, Sunday at the Ridge at Back Brook Golf Club in Ringoes, N.J.
 
The Crimson, which stood in fourth-place after the second round on Saturday, vaulted into first after breaking the previous best round by seven strokes, shooting a two-over par 290 on the par-72, 6,042-yard course to finish with 901 (309-302-290) over the course of the three days. Harvard wins its first title since 2016 and eighth overall, moving out of a tie with Yale for first-place all-time in Ivy League history.
 
Dartmouth (307-302-298—907) took second, while Columbia (298-309-306—913) finished third. Princeton (309-306-302—917), Penn (297-313-309—919), Yale (314-319-302—935) and Brown (317-320-309—946) rounded out the rest of the team scoring.
 
Harvard freshman Elizabeth Wang led the individual scorers with a three-day score of 218 (74-75-69), matching Yale’s Ami Gianchandani for the best round of the three days on Sunday. It marks the first time that the individual winner came from the championship team since 2014, when Harvard and Anne Cheng accomplished the feat.
