Tapé, Kirkwood Claim Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. -- After leading their team to a weekend sweep, Columbia’s Patrick Tapé was named Ivy League Player of the Week, while Harvard’s Noah Kirkwood takes home his sixth Rookie of the Week award.
 
Three of the four-team field to the 2019 Ivy League Men’s Basketball Tournament have been decided as Yale, Harvard and Princeton clinched spots on Friday night. Brown has the inside track to the final spot as the Bears enter the final weekend in sole possession of fourth place.
 
The Ivy League leads the country in close game percentage as 39.6 percent of all League games have gone to overtime or been decided by four points or less in regulation.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Patrick Tapé, Columbia (Jr., F – Charlotte, N.C.)
  • Averaged 16 points per game on 12-of-16 shooting (75.0 percent) from the field to help Columbia earn a pivotal road sweep
  • Registered 6.5 rebounds per game and 1.5 blocks in the two wins
  • Tallied team-highs with 16 points and seven boards in the Lions’ win at Brown
  • Recorded 16 points and pulled down six boards to go with a pair of blocks to help Columbia snap a seven-game slide against Yale
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Noah Kirkwood, Harvard (Fr., G – Ottawa Ontario)
  • Averaged 10.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as the Crimson swept Penn and Princeton
  • Tallied his first-career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds against the Quakers
  • Added nine points and four rebounds against The Tigers
  • Helped Harvard limit its opponents to a league-best 55.5 points per game over the weekend
  • Claimed a league-best six Rookie of the Week honors.
