Harvard Wins Third-Straight, 26th All-Time Ivy League Crown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- (Final Results) Behind a dominant performance that included 12 event victories, Harvard captured its third-straight Ivy League titles for the first time since a string of four-straight from 1998-2001. The Crimson own 26 all-time Ivy League championships, including four over the past six years. 
 
Harvard tallied 1,432.5 points to defeat Princeton (1,209.5) by a 223-point margin. Penn (1,120.5), Columbia (1,037) and Yale (1035.5) also eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau, while Brown (884), Cornell (701.5) and Dartmouth (425.5) rounded out the eight-team field. 
 
The 2019 Ivy League Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships featured 14 new pool records and seven new meet records. 
 
Harvard senior Brennan Novak and junior Dean Farris shared Phil Moriarty High Point Swimmer of the Meet honors with the maximum 96 points for the second-straight year, while Novak and Penn senior Mark Andrew shared the Harold Ulen Career High Point Swimmer title with 351 points over their four collegiate campaigns. Columbia freshman Jonathan Suckow was the Karl B. Michael High Point Diver of the Meet with the maximum 64 points for the second-straight year, while Dartmouth’s A.J. Krok was the Ron Keenhold Career High Point Diver with 105.5 points over his four-year career.
 
Harvard’s Brennan Novak went back-to-back in the 1,650-yard freestyle, topping the field with a time of 14:46.60. He is also this year’s champion in the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyle events. Penn’s Will Thomas (14:54.76) and Harvard’s Logan Houck (14:57.38) placed second and third. 
 
In the 200-yard backstroke, Princeton’s Cole Buese picked up the second event win for the Tigers in 1:43.35, just ahead of Harvard’s Daniel Tran (1:44.32) and Brown’s Coley Sullivan (1:44.54). 
 
Harvard’s Dean Farris added another Ivy title to his mantle by posting a 41.42 in the 100-yard freestyle, snapping the oldest championship meet record, setting a pool record and achieving an NCAA A cut. Farris, a junior, is now 9-for-9 in individual events at Ivy League championships. Yale’s Henry Gaissert (42.86) and Penn’s Thomas Dillinger (43.04) followed Farris in the event finale. 
 
With a time of 1:54.38, Penn senior Mark Andrew won his final individual event at Ivy League championships in the 200-yard breaststroke. Boris Yang (1:56.33) joined Andrew in a 1-2 Quaker finish, ahead of Harvard’s Daniel Chang (1:56.34). 
 
Another pool and championship meet record fell in the 200-yard butterfly, as Princeton freshman Raunak Khosla touched in 1:42.05. Khosla outpaced fellow first-year Jacob Johnson of Harvard (1:42.72) and senior Shane Brett of Columbia (1:43.40). 
 
For the fourth-straight year, Columbia swept the diving events, with sophomore Jonathan Suckow going back-to-back in both 1-meter and 3-meter. Suckow posted a pool record 442.35 score, outpacing Princeton’s Colten Young (356.70) and Dartmouth’s Justin Sodokoff (355.80) in the finals. 

In the 21stand final event of the meet, Penn ended Harvard’s string of relay sweeps with a 2:52.26 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, besting the Crimson (2:52.71) by .45 seconds. Yale (2:52.79) placed third in the event.
