Men's Ice Hockey All-Ivy, Postseason Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Harvard tandem of Adam Fox and Casey Dornbach swept the Ivy League men’s ice hockey postseason awards following a vote of the League’s six head coaches.

Cornell’s Mike Schafer was named the Ivy League Coach of the Year for the second-straight season, Harvard junior defenseman Adam Fox was selected as the Player of the Year and Harvard freshman forward Casey Dornbach was dubbed the Rookie of the Year.

Fox tallied a League-high 15 points—via three goals and a League-best 12 assists—in Ivy play. On the season, the Jericho, N.Y., native has accumulated 40 points via eight goals and 32 assists. He leads the nation, averaging 1.10 assists per game, and also paces all defensemen and ranks fourth overall in NCAA Division I, averaging 1.38 points per game.

Dornbach added nine points—via two goals and seven assists—in his first Ivy League campaign. The Edina, Minn., product amassed 28 points on the season via seven goals and 21 assists to rank second nationally among freshmen with .97 points per game.

In his 24th season at the helm, Schafer led Cornell to back-to-back Ivy League titles for the first time since a string of four-straight from 2002-05. Behind a 7-2-1 mark in Ivy League play and a 13-5-4 record in ECAC Hockey, the Big Red captured their 23rd Ivy League title and 10th ECAC Hockey regular-season crown. This is just the second time in program history that Cornell has won back-to-back Cleary Cups (2001-02, 2002-03).

Ivy League champion Cornell boasts a League-high three First Team All-Ivy recipients in sophomore forward Morgan Barron (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada), junior defenseman Yanni Kaldis (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) and sophomore goaltender Austin McGrath (Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada).

Ivy League runner-up Princeton also had three All-Ivy selections in senior forward Ryan Kuffner (First Team – Ottawa, Ontario, Canada), senior forward Max Véronneau (Second Team – Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) and senior defenseman Josh Teves (Second Team – Calgary, Alberta, Canada).

Dartmouth joined the Big Red and Tigers in producing an All-Ivy trio, with junior goaltender Adrian Clark (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) earning First Team accolades and freshman forward Drew O’Connor (Chatham, N.J.) and senior defenseman Connor Yau (Algonquin, Ill.) landing on the Second Team.

Harvard junior defenseman Fox and Yale senior forward Joe Snively (Herndon, Va.) were the League’s unanimous First Team All-Ivy selections. The Bulldogs’ senior goaltender Sam Tucker (Wilton, Conn.) also claimed Second Team recognition.

All six Ivy League men’s ice hockey programs were represented, as Brown’s Tommy Marchin earned Second Team honors.
