PRINCETON, N.J. -- After an opening weekend that saw five Ivy League women’s soccer teams go undefeated, Columbia and Princeton netted the year’s first weekly awards.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mimi Asom, Princeton (Sr., F – Dallas)
- Led the No. 14 Tigers to a 2-0-0 week, with wins at New Hampshire and at Boston U
- Scored the gamewinning goal in both contests, including the game’s lone goal at BU
- Finished the week with four points on two goals, nine shots and five shots on goal
- Takes home her fourth career Ivy League Player of the Week honor and 10th career Ivy League weekly award
- Took part in the Ivy League's ongoing Authentic Ivy series
- President of the Ivy Club, the oldest eating club at Princeton
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Talia Tyler, Columbia (Fr., D – Muskegon, Mich.)
- Kicked off her collegiate career by leading the Lions to a 3-0 win over Fordham
- Took just one shot in the game but made it count, scoring her first career goal as the first half came to an end
- Also tallied an assist on the Lions’ third goal of the game
- First Lion to be named Rookie of the Week since teammate Emma Anderson on Nov. 2, 2015
- Younger sister of Ian Tyler, former defensive lineman for Columbia’s football team who graduated in 2018
