NEW YORK -- Leslie Robinson became the third Ivy League women’s basketball standout drafted into the WNBA, as the New York Liberty selected her with the 34th overall pick.

Robinson was the 10th pick in the third round by the Liberty. She joins former Harvard standouts Temi Fagbenle and Allison Feaster-Strong as the only Ivies to be drafted; Fagbenle was taken with the 35th pick in the 2017 draft by the Minnesota Lynx after competing her graduate season at USC; Feaster-Strong was picked fifth overall in the 1998 draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. Robinson also becomes the second member of her family to be drafted by a professional basketball team, as her father, former Princeton standout Craig, was taken in the fourth round of the 1983 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Robinson is seeking to become the second Princeton player to play in the WNBA as her former teammate Blake Dietrick made the Seattle Storm roster in 2016. Dietrick is currently on the Atlanta Dream's training camp roster. Both Dietrick and Robinson are hoping to join Fagbenle and give the Ivy League three active players on WNBA rosters.

"When I first heard the news and saw the television, it was surreal," said Robinson. "This is something that we, as young women, think about forever and for it to come true is amazing. I am so happy that I could be with my team on this night - the people who helped me get here and grow as a person and a player. I am so excited for what is next. Go Liberty!"

"Leslie came to Princeton to be challenged, and she has risen to every single one (and it's only fitting, she is handing in her senior thesis tomorrow morning!)," said Princeton head coach Courtney Banghart. "As an athlete, Leslie wanted to be a part of something that would help her grow into the best player she could be. She has worked so hard to become a special and rare player, as a triple double threat every night, a fiery competitor, and a versatile piece to any offense. On top of her attributes on the floor, she urges and celebrates the best in others all the way down the roster. She's a proven winner, a gifted leader, the quintessential teammate. I am bursting with pride and all of Tiger Nation is so excited to support this next chapter."

After back-to-back two-point games against Georgia Tech (Nov. 19) and Davidson (Nov. 25), Robinson ripped off seven of eight contests with at least 10 points. She snagged double-doubles vs. Delaware (Dec. 2), at Quinnipiac (Dec. 9) and vs. Chattanooga (Dec. 21). In the month of December, the senior captain posted 11.4 points on 46.7 percent shooting, 7.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists per contest.

Robinson started Ivy play with a stellar 15-point, five-assist, four-rebound, three-steal performance at Penn (Jan. 6). She followed with three consecutive games in double figures including 18 points, nine rebounds and two steals at Yale (Feb. 2). The Corvallis, Ore., native was a combined 14-of-20 shooting at Cornell (Feb. 16) and Columbia (Feb. 17), finishing the weekend with 14.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per meeting. In her second to last career home outing, Robinson registered one of the greatest games in Ivy history, securing what is believed to be program's first triple double against Brown (Mar. 2), scoring 10 points, grabbing 15 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists.

The senior captain completed the regular season at 10.2 points on 44.3 percent from the floor, along with 7.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.5 steals per game. Her 129 assists are the sixth most in a single-season in program history, while her 112 career games are tied for the 10th highest in Princeton history.
