PRINCETON, N.J. -- Two Ivies – Yale’s
Nicky Downs and
Kyle Kenagy – were named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Teams, selected by CoSIDA and recognized for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom, as announced by the organization.
The duo has played a critical role in Yale's progression as a program. The Bulldogs have improved their win total compared to previous seasons in each of the past four years. At 6-6-3 overall, Yale will look to finish with a winning overall record for the first time since 2011. The Bulldogs will host league-leader Princeton in their season-finale on Saturday.
Hailing from Lakeville, Conn., Downs has been one of the Bulldogs’ most constant scoring threats throughout the season. The forward has contributed a team-best four goals and four assists for 12 points. The second-team All-Ivy selection will conclude his career in New Haven with five goals, 10 assists for 20 points. This is Downs’ second Academic All-District honor of his career. Downs is an economic major and has earned a 3.83 grade point average.
A senior forward from Orland Park, Ill., Kenagy has been a consistent presence up top for the Bulldogs throughout the season, staritng 13 of the Bulldogs’ 14 games. Kenagy has tallied three goals and one assist for a total of seven points, which ranks third on the team. The senior has proved clutch, scoring two game winners against Niagara and then-No. 18 Cornell for Yale’s first win over a top-25 opponent in over a decade. Kenagy will graduate from Yale in May with a mechanical engineering degree and has a 3.56 grade point average.
District 1 is comprised of teams from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in early December.
