Women's Soccer All-Ivy, Postseason Award Winners Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Penn and Princeton, which shared the Ivy League women’s soccer title, combined to take three of the four postseason awards after a vote by the League’s eight coaches.

Princeton senior Mimi Asom was the unanimous selection for Offensive Player of the Year, while her coach Sean Driscoll was voted Coach of the Year. Penn senior defender Camillia Nwokedi earned Defensive Player of the Year and Brown freshman Rebecca Rosen received Rookie of the Year honors.

Asom (Dallas) earns her second postseason award, as she was the unanimous Rookie of the Year in 2015. She is the 14th Tiger overall to be named Player of the Year and the fourth to receive Offensive Player of the Year since the award was created prior to the 2013 season. In conference play, Asom led the League in points per game (13) and goals (six) and tied for the League-lead with three gamewinning goals.

Nwokedi (Burbank, Calif.) is the third Quaker to be named Player of the Year and the second to earn Defensive Player of the Year, as Caroline Dwyer received the inaugural honor in 2013. Nwokedi led a Penn defense that gave up just two goals in Ivy play and posted a 0.28 goals against average, with five shutouts.

Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.), who was also selected second-team All-Ivy, is the sixth Bear to receive Rookie of the Year and the first since Kathryn Moos in 2003. Rosen tallied eight points of her 10 points in Ivy play, scoring three of her four goals and tallying both of her assists. She finished the year tied for third in both goals and points in League action.

Driscoll led the Tigers to their second-straight Ivy title, third in the past four seasons and 10th overall. Princeton claimed the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament thanks to a 1-0 win over Penn in the season finale and hope to improve upon their Elite Eight run from a season ago. Driscoll earns his third Coach of the Year honor, as he previously took home the award in 2015 and 2017.

Seven teams placed athletes on the first team, led by Penn with three. Quakers juniors Emily Sands (F – West Chester, Pa.) and Kitty Qu (GK – Foster City, Calif.) joined Nwokedi, with Qu earning first team honors for the second-consecutive season.

Princeton, Dartmouth and Harvard each placed two on the first team. Asom made All-Ivy for the fourth time, the second-straight year as a member of the first team and first as a unanimous selection, while sophomore defender Lucy Rickerson (San Diego) received her second All-Ivy honor after being named honorable mention last season.

Dartmouth senior Remy Borinsky (M – Warren, N.J.) was placed on the first team for the third-straight year, marking her fourth All-Ivy honor. Big Green sophomore Bonnie Shea (D – Atlanta) took home her second All-Ivy accolade after receiving honorable mention status as a freshman.

Harvard sophomore midfielder Murphy Agnew (New Hope, Pa.) is a two-time All-Ivy recipient, earning her first career first-team spot, while senior midfielder Leah Mohammadi (Upland, Calif.) received her first career All-Ivy honor.

Brown, Columbia and Yale rounded out the first team. Bears junior midfielder Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) and Bulldogs junior midfielder Noelle Higginson (New Orleans) each earned their second-straight first team honors, while Lions junior defender Amalya Johnson (Montclair, N.J.) made it 3-for-3 in receiving All-Ivy status.

Cornell was represented on the All-Ivy teams by junior defender Abby Adams (Wyckoff, N.J.) and senior goalie Meghan Kennedy (Santa Clarita, Calif.), who were named to the second team and honorable mention, respectively.
