Statement Wins Lead to Men's Soccer Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. -- After leading their teams to big statement wins over League rivals, Yale’s Kyle Kenagy was named Ivy League Player of the Week, while Brown’s James Swoley earned Rookie of the Week honors.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kyle Kenagy, Yale (Sr., F – Orland Park, Ill.)
  • Scored with 3:11 left in the first overtime period to lift Yale past No. 18 Cornell, 2-1.
  • Marks the second game-winning goal for Kenagy in 2018
  • It marks Yale’s first League win of the season and its first victory over a top-25 opponent since defeated No. 17 UConn in 2003
  • Studying mechanical engineering and was an advanced concepts engineer intern at Radio Flyer over the summer.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
James Swomley, Brown (Fr., G – Newton, Mass.)
  • Led Brown to a pair of wins, including his first career shutout against Harvard.
  • Brown earned its second straight victory, moving to 3-0 in overtime games.
  • Made two saves in a double overtime win against Harvard, including a leaping stop with six minutes left in regulation to keep the game scoreless.
  • A member of the FC Greater Boston Bolts that advanced to the United State Youth Soccer National Championship semifinals.
