Dartmouth's Omsberg and Danilack Selected in MLS SuperDraft

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., -- Two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year Wyatt Omsberg of Dartmouth became the first player in Ivy League history to be drafted in the first round of the SuperDraft since the format changed in 1999.

Osmberg was selected 15th overall in the first round of the 2018 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by the Minnesota United FC. Harvard’s Will Kohler was drafted 15th overall in the second round in 1997.

Joining Osmberg in the draft is teammate Matt Danilack, a four-time All-Ivy honoree. Danilack was selected by the Philadelphia Union with the eighth pick of the fourth round of the draft. The pair becomes the fifth and sixth players in Dartmouth soccer history to be drafted.

Since the format of the draft changed in 1999, the Ivy League has had 28 players get drafted in the SuperDraft and go on to play in the professional ranks.

Osmberg and Danliack were key pieces to a Dartmouth team that won four consecutive Ivy League titles during their time in Hanover. As seniors, the duo led Dartmouth to a 15-seed in the NCAA Tournament, where the Big Green hosted a second-round match against New Hampshire.
