WASHINGTON -- Princeton senior attack Olivia Hompe and Yale junior attack Ben Reeves have been named finalists for the prestigious Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the most valuable players of college men’s and women’s lacrosse.

Hompe is the eighth Ivy on the women's side to be named a finalist for the award since its creation in 2001 and the first since Penn’s Ali DeLuca in 2010. Hompe is hoping to become the second Ivy to win the award, joining former Tiger Rachael Becker (2003).

Reeves hopes to give men's #IvyLax back-to-back Tewaaraton Awards for the first time in League history, as Brown’s Dylan Molloy was the 2016 recipient. Reeves is 11th Ivy overall to be named a finalist and the fourth to accomplish the feat twice, joining Princeton’s Tom Schreiber (2013, 14) and Cornell’s Rob Pannell (2011, 13) and Max Seibald (2007, 09).

The 2017 Tewaaraton Awards will be handed out in Washington during the 17th annual ceremony on June 1.

Hompe leads the nation in goal per game, averaging 4.12, and is third in points per game with 6.06. She ranks first nationally in shots per game, taking an average of 8.47 per game and is fourth in free-position percentage (70.6%). Hompe has 103 points this season and 70 goals, both single-season records at Princeton.

This year she became Princeton's all-time leading scorer and goal scorer with 278 career points and 193 career goals. A three-time unanimous first-team All-Ivy League selection Hompe was named the Ivy League Attacker of the Year. She earned a Ivy League All-Tournament Team honors last weekend as she set six records, in points, goals and assists in a single game and in a tournament.

Reeves, the 2017 Ivy League Player of the Year and Ivy Tournament Most Outstanding Player, ranks fifth in the nation with 5.21 points per outing, while his 2.50 assists are sixth. Despite missing most of the first two game, Reeves posted team-high 38 goals and 72 points over the last 13 contests.

Reeves, who has a 33-game point streak, is quickly climbing up the ranks in the Yale Lacrosse record book. He is second for career points with 195, just five away from the Yale record. His 108 goals are third at Yale, while his 87 assists rank fifth.
