Harvard, Yale Earn League Victories; Ivies Go 3-1 in Non-Conference Play

PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard and Yale opened Ivy League football play with wins over Brown and Cornell, respectively, while Columbia, Dartmouth and Princeton picked up non-league victories. The league now stands at 8-4 in non-conference play.
 
Dartmouth, Harvard and Yale each improved to 2-0 overall on the season.
 
rv YALE 41, CORNELL 24
12 p.m. // New Haven, Conn. // Yale Bowl
  • Yale (2-0, 1-0) forced five turnovers in its 41-21 win over Cornell (0-2, 0-1).
  • Yale defensive back Abu Kamara, a Buck Buchanan Award Preseason Watch List honoree, was involved in three turnovers: two interceptions (including a 65-yard pick-six) and a fumble recovery. He also blocked a field goal before halftime.
  • Linebacker Inumidun Ayo-Durojaiye posted a game-high 17 tackles.
  • Senior running back Josh Pitsenberger rushed for three touchdowns for the second straight game, finishing with 142 yards on 28 carries.
  • Cornell tight end Ryder Kurtz caught five passes for 91 yards and a touchdown.
 
rv DARTMOUTH 35, CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE 28
12 p.m. // New Britain, Conn. // Arute Field
  • For the second straight week, Dartmouth (2-0) used a late touchdown to defeat a 2024 FCS Playoff team. Grayson Saunier hit Ky’Dric Fisher for a 50-yard game-winner with 16 seconds left to lift the Big Green over Central Connecticut State (2-3, 1-0 NEC).
  • Saunier completed 30-of-44 passes for 407 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Wide receiver Grayson O’Bara caught seven passes for 128 yards while tight end Chris Corbo added seven receptions for 68 yards and a score.
  • Running back D.J. Crowther rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries
 
COLUMBIA 19, GEORGETOWN 10
12 p.m. // New York, N.Y. // Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium
  • Columbia (1-1) defeated Georgetown (2-3, 0-1 Patriot) to win the Lou Little Cup for the fourth time in five seasons.
  • Linebacker Jack Smiechowski recorded two interceptions and led the team with eight tackles.
  • Quarterback Chase Goodwin threw for 151 yards and a touchdown and added 44 rushing yards and a score.

12 p.m. // Bethlehem, Pa. // Goodman Stadium
  • Penn (1-1) challenged No. 9 Lehigh (5-0, 2-0) but ultimately fell short, 44-30, on the road.
  • Quarterback Liam O’Brien threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns, completing 28-of-37 passes.
  • The duo of Jared Richardson and Bisi Owens combined for 22 catches, 242 yards and three touchdowns. Richardson posted 12 catches for 141 yards and two scores while Owens added 10 receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown.
  • Defensive back Ty Cortes led the team with 10 tackles.
 
PRINCETON 38, rv LAFAYETTE 28
3:30 p.m. // Easton, Pa. // Fisher Stadium
  • Princeton (1-1) built an early lead to cruise past Lafayette (3-2, 1-0 Patriot) and pick up a 38-28 road win.
  • A Torian Roberts 38-yard pick six with 2:08 remaining in the first half gave the Tigers a 28-7 lead.
  • Both Kai Colón and Blaine Hipa saw time at quarterback for the Tigers. Colón was 13-for-20 through the air for 121 yards and a touchdown. Hipa was 8-for-12 for 84 yards.
  • Ten different Tigers caught passes, led by Jackson Green’s five catches for 64 yards and a touchdown.
  • Linebacker Chase Christopher led all tacklers with 13.
 
rv HARVARD 41, BROWN 7
6 p.m. // Cambridge, Mass. // Tim Murphy Field at Harvard Stadium
  • Harvard (2-0, 1-0) was dominant its win over Brown (1-1, 0-1) from start to finish.
  • On the first play from scrimmage, Harvard linebacker Dorsey Benefield had a 30-yard pick six. The Crimson finished with three interceptions.
  • Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig, a Walter Payton Award Preseason Watch List honoree, went 24-for-31 for 317 yards and four touchdowns.
  • Craig is averaging 15.4 yards per completion this season.
  • Brown linebacker John Perdue posted a game-high 14 tackles.
