PRINCETON, N.J. — For the second consecutive year, multiple Ivy League graduates — Harvard's
Harmoni Turner and Princeton's
Kaitlyn Chen — were selected in the WNBA draft on Monday evening.
Selected with the 35
th pick in the draft by the Las Vegas Aces, Turner enters the WNBA following a stellar season that saw her win Ivy League Player of the Year and AP Honorable Mention All-America honors.
The senior from Mansfield, Texas earned Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year honors after being one of the top leading scorers in the country after averaging 22.5 points per game to help lead the Crimson to a No. 10-seed.
The first Ivy League student-athlete to hear her name called on the night was Chen who was picked 30
th by the Golden State Valkyries. After spending three seasons with Princeton from 2021-24 and graduating in 2024, Chen spent last season with UConn as the San Marino, Calif., native helped the Huskies cut down the net at the end of the season.
Throughout her career at Princeton, Chen averaged 14.2 points per game and 4.0 assists per game as she was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2023 and First Team All-Ivy in 2023 and 2024.
The selections come after the Ivy League had a stellar 2024-25 campaign with three teams (Columbia, Harvard, and Princeton) earning bids to the NCAA Tournament.
