PRINCETON, N.J. – One more Ivy Madness spot is still available with two games left as Columbia, Yale, Penn and Princeton won league games on Friday night.
Columbia continues to sit alone in first place and would win at least a share of the Ivy League title with one win over its final two games. Harvard and Princeton are tied for second at 9-2, while Penn (6-6) and Brown (4-8) are vying for that coveted fourth Ivy Madness berth.
COLUMBIA 70, BROWN 44
Kitty Henderson was the story for the Columbia women’s basketball team on Friday night as she recorded the second triple-double in Columbia history with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists while also adding four steals and just one turnover, leading all players in the game in all four categories. For Brown,
Isabella Mauricio and
Grace Arnolie had 15 points each. Columbia hosts Yale tomorrow afternoon while Brown heads to Cornell for a pivotal matchup.
PRINCETON 70, HARVARD 58
Princeton used sharp shooting (57 percent) to earn a statement 70-58 win over Harvard on the road. Five Tigers put up double-digits in the point category, led by
Parker Hill’s 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. The Tigers head to Dartmouth tomorrow while Harvard takes on Penn in Cambridge.
YALE 48, CORNELL 46
In a back-and-forth battle, Yale was victorious over Cornell, scoring 14 points in the third quarter to come from behind and win by two. The Bulldogs were led by
Mackenzie Egger who had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Cornell received double-digit points from three different scorers, including a team-high 14 points by Summer Parking-Hall. Up next for the Bulldogs is Columbia while Cornell hosts Brown.
PENN 66, DARTMOUTH 37
Penn picked up a meaningful league win with a strong defensive performance over Dartmouth. The Quakers held Dartmouth to just 14 first half points and were led by
Stina Almqvist’s 24 points on 11-for-19 shooting. Penn returns to action tomorrow for a huge matchup against Harvard with a chance to clinch the final Ivy League tournament spot while Dartmouth plays host to Princeton.
