Yale Punches Ticket to Ivy Madness; Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard Earn Saturday Wins

PRINCETON, N.J. – Yale secured the first men’s Ivy Madness spot Saturday evening with its win over Princeton. The Bulldogs extended their win streak to 10 games, the fifth longest in the nation. The reigning Ivy Madness champs are 9-0 in league play.
 
Brown, Dartmouth and Harvard each capped off important 2-0 weekends. The Big Green (6-3), which was selected eighth in the Ivy League preseason poll, currently ranks second in the standings. The Bears (4-5) and Crimson (4-5), which entered the weekend three games back of fourth place are now one game behind Cornell (5-4) and Princeton (5-4).

DARTMOUTH 88, CORNELL 49
Dartmouth (12-10, 6-3 Ivy) made a statement with a 39-point victory over Cornell (13-9,5-4 Ivy) to give the Big Green its fourth consecutive win. Dartmouth hit 15 triples with Cade Haskins leading the way off the bench shooting 5-of-8 from 3-pont range. Haskins scored a team-high 17 points, while Ryan Cornish contributed 16. Defensively the Big Green stymied Cornell’s offense which entered the contest ranked seventh in the nation in points per game averaging 84.9.
 
BROWN 82, PENN 72
Brown (12-10, 4-5 Ivy) shot 57 percent from the field in its win over Penn (6-16, 2-7 Ivy). Five Bears players scored in double figures, led by Kino Lilly Jr.’s 23 points. Lilly, who ranks third nationally in 3-pointers per game, was 5-of-8 from beyond the arc in addition to dishing out a team-high five assists. Landon Lewis was second on the team with 20 points and added five blocks on the defensive side. Penn’s Ethan Roberts had a game-high 26 points.
 
HARVARD 87, COLUMBIA 75
Harvard (9-13, 4-5 Ivy) shot 60 percent from the floor and 55 percent from 3-point range in its win over Columbia (12-10, 1-8 Ivy). Harvard sophomore guard Thomas Batties II dropped a career-high 31 points, shooting 12-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-6 from 3-point range. He also had seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Four Crimson players scored in double digits. Columbia shot 48 percent from the field and was led by Blair Thompson’s 19 points.
 
YALE 84, PRINCETON 57
Yale (16-6, 9-0 Ivy) shot 57 percent from the field in its 27-point win over Princeton (16-8, 5-4 Ivy). For the seventh time during its 10-game win streak, four Yale players scored in double figures led by Nick Townsend (20) and Bez Mbeng (17). The duo shot a combined 82 percent from the field (14-of-17) and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from beyond the arc. Princeton’s Xaivian Lee scored a team-high 19 points.
