PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 22 Harvard and Dartmouth picked up Ivy League football wins this weekend, while Penn and Brown earned non-league victories.
Harvard is one of eight remaining undefeated FCS teams. Brown, Dartmouth and Penn each improved to 3-1 overall on the season.
Now 12-8 collectively in non-conference play, the league has secured a winning percentage of .500 or better for the 13th time in the last 15 seasons.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10
NO. 22 HARVARD 34, CORNELL 10
7 p.m. // Cambridge, Mass. // Tim Murphy Field at a Harvard Stadium
- Harvard (4-0, 2-0 Ivy) remained unbeaten with a 34-10 win over Cornell (0-4, 0-2 Ivy).
- The Crimson scored two defensive touchdowns with an Austin-Jake Guillory 36-yard fumble recovery in the first quarter and a 39-yard pick six from Jack Donahoe in the fourth.
- Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig threw for 237 yards and a touchdown and added a rushing score. Xaviah Bascon led the rushing attack with 94 yards on 23 carries.
- Cornell’s Damon Barnes had a team-high 12 tackles.
PENN 28, MARIST 9
7 p.m. // Philadelphia, Pa. // Franklin Field
- Penn (3–1, 1–0 Ivy) earned a 28–9 victory over Marist (3–3, 1–1 Pioneer).
- Quarterback Liam O’Brien threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns. His top target, Jared Richardson, hauled in 15 receptions for 190 yards and both scores.
- Linebacker John Lista tied for the lead in tackles with six and had a sack.
BROWN 29, BRYANT 19
7 p.m. // Smithfield, R.I. // Beirne Stadium
- After falling behind 12-0, Brown (3-1, 0-1 Ivy) outscored Bryant (2-5, 0-3 CAA) 29-6 to finish non-conference play with a perfect 3-0 record.
- Quarterback James Murphy completed 29 of 44 passes for 347 yards and a touchdown.
- Running back Matt Childs ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns on 21 attempts.
- Safety Miles Brophy anchored the defense with a team-high 11 tackles.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11
NO. 7 LEHIGH 31, COLUMBIA 7
12 p.m. // New York, N.Y. // Robert K. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium
- Columbia (1-3, 0-1 Ivy) fell to No. 7 Lehigh (7-0, 2-0 Patriot) 31-7.
- Receiver Titus Evans had six catches for 111 yards, highlighted by a 74-yard touchdown.
- Defensive back Caleb Solomon posted a game-high 15 tackles.
NO. 19 MERCER 38, PRINCETON 14
12 p.m. // Princeton, N.J. // Powers Field at Princeton Stadium
- Princeton (2–2, 1–0 Ivy) dropped a 38–14 decision to No. 19 Mercer (5–1, 4–0 SoCon).
- Quarterback Kai Colón was 13-for-21 passing for 124 yards and two touchdowns.
- Reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week, Josh Robinson had six catches for 60 yards.
- Defensive back Kyler Ronquillo had 12 tackles.
DARTMOUTH 17, YALE 16
1:30 p.m. // Hanover, N.H. // Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field
- Owen Zalc’s 51-yard field goal as time expired lifted Dartmouth (3-1, 1-1 Ivy) to a dramatic 17-16 victory over Yale (2-2, 1-1 Ivy).
- Each of the last five meeting between the two schools has been decided by one possession.
- Dartmouth quarterback Grayson Saunier led the game-winning drive which came on the heels of a Yale touchdown with 37 seconds remaining. Saunier found KyDric Fisher for 22 yards to set up the decisive kick.
- Saunier totaled 253 yards of offense — 158 passing and 95 rushing — and scored twice on the ground.
- Dartmouth linebacker Nico Schwikal posted a team-high 12 tackles.
- For Yale, running back Josh Pitsenberger surpassed 100 rushing yards for the third time this season (138 yards on 34 carries). Quarterback Dante Reno completed 19 of 32 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
