PRINCETON, N.J. — Following a thrilling season that saw four Ivy League programs win games in the NCAA Tournament, the national spotlight is on Ivy League women's soccer heading into the 2024 campaign. Following a vote by members of the media, Harvard has been picked to win the Ivy League regular season title.
The Crimson landed in the top spot having collected 120 votes, including 10 of the 16 first-place votes, from the projections. Harvard, who earned a No. 19 national ranking in TopDrawerSoccer's preseason poll, is coming off a 13-4-2 season that included an NCAA Tournament win as well as the Ivy League Tournament title.
Brown lands in the second position after 108 votes and four first-place votes. The Bears also collected a win in last year's NCAA Tournament and are receiving votes in the national preseason poll.
Princeton (103 votes) was the only other Ivy to receive a first-place vote, garnering two of them, after a 10-5-4 season. The Tigers also recorded a win in last year's NCAA Tournament over Michigan. Columbia, last year's runner-up in the Ivy League Tournament, occupies the fourth slot after receiving 77 votes. Dartmouth, Yale, Penn, and Cornell round out the rest of the poll.
For the second-straight year, the Ivy League will hold its women’s soccer postseason tournament to determine the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. The four-team tournament will consist of the top four teams from the regular season and will be hosted by the No. 1 seed on Friday, November 8 and Sunday, November 10.
Last week, numerous student-athletes received national attention as four Ivies were named to TopDrawerSoccer's Top 100 players for the season. Princeton's
Pietra Tordin earned the number 19 ranking in the country. Harvard's
Josefine Hasbo also received a top 50 ranking.
