Yale Comes From Behind To Claim 2024 Ivy League Men’s Golf Championship

FINAL RESULTS

WATCHUNG, N.J.
– Yale University shot nine-under-par on the final day to capture the 2024 Ivy League Men’s Golf Championship title, while Yale’s Ben Carpenter claimed medalist honors. The Bulldogs were even through the first two days of the tournament entering the final day.

Trailing by five strokes after day two to Princeton, the Bulldogs stormed back to claim their 12th title with the last being back in 2022. Yale has the second most Ivy League titles just nine behind Princeton’s 22.

Yale entered the day at even-par and five strokes back. The Bulldogs shot an incredible round of 275 (-9), with Carpenter leading the round with a four-under 67. One of the most clutch moments of the day, however, came from Yale's Gabriel Ruiz who drained a 30-foot eagle putt from the fringe to give the Bulldogs the final advantage.

Yale (-9, 843), was followed by Princeton (-6, 846), Harvard (+7, 859), Columbia (+19, 871), Penn (+29, 881), Dartmouth (+35, 887), and Cornell (+41, 893).

This was Carpenter’s second individual title in the last three years with his last coming back in 2022 when he shot a 211 over the three days. He finished at nine-under-par, 204 at this year’s tournament. Carpenter was one of two players to shoot a 67 on the final day of the championship. His 67 held off Princeton’s William Huang who took second after finishing at eight-under-par, 205.

Brian Ma of Harvard was third after shooting a seven-under-par, 204 through all three rounds. He was the only other player to shoot a 67 on a single day (Day Three).

Yale’s Robert You finished fourth, shooting a five-under-par, 208 while Princeton’s Riccardo Fantinelli rounded out the top five at four-under-par, 209 for the tournament.
