BOSTON - The 2024 Ivy League Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships wrapped up on Saturday night inside Blodgett Pool as Harvard University claimed its seventh straight conference title Saturday evening.
Gunner Grant was the Phil Moriarty High Point Swimmer of the Meet, finishing with the maximum 96 points. He was also the recipient of the Harold S. Ulen Career High Point Swimmer Award, compiling 350 points throughout his career. Princeton’s Aidan Wang was the Karl B. Michael High Point Diver of the Meet, posting the maximum 64 points. Harvard’s Luke Foster earned the Ron Keenhold Career High Point Diver award with 166 points throughout his career.
Long distance swimming began the final day of competition as Harvard’s Cole Kuster won the 1,650-Yard Freestyle with a swim of 15:02.52. Teammate Will Grant followed with a time of 1:40;68 in the 200-Yard Backstroke, joining Crimson alum Dan Scevchik (2000-03) as the event’s only four-time champions.
In the 100-yard freestyle race, Harvard swimming David Greeley reached the wall in 42.82.
The highly anticipated 200-yard breaststroke lived up to its hype. Penn’s Matthew Fallon continued his dominance, setting a new Ivy League championship meet and pool record with an NCAA “A” standard time of 1:49.75. The mark is the fastest time in the NCAA this season. Brown’s Jack Kelly finished in 1:51.63, the ninth fastest time in the NCAA.
The Crimson’s string of success rolled on as David Schmitt (1:42.44) and teammate Ben Littlejohn (1:42.58) finished first and second, respectively, in the 200-Yard Butterfly event.
The four-day meet came to a close with the 400-yard freestyle relay as the Harvard foursome of Littlejohn, Greeley, Aayush Deshpande, and Marcus Holmquist turned in a pool record time of 2:50.72, narrowly missing out on a meet record by a .32 margin.
