Princeton Claims Fifth Consecutive Women's Hoops Ivy Madness Title

NEW YORK – Princeton captured the 2024 Ivy League Tournament title and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with a 75-58 win over Columbia Saturday afternoon. The title marks the fifth-consecutive Ivy Madness title for the Tigers, dating back to 2017.

A balanced scoring effort helped Princeton claim the victory as four players recorded double figures in points. Madison St. Rose led the way with 18 points on 6-for-12 shooting, while Kaitlyn Chen tallied 17. Chen, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tournament, also notched six assists. Other Tigers in double figures were Ellie Mitchell (12) and Ashley Chea (10). Mitchell also had a game-high 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Columbia had three in double figures led by Ivy League Player of the Year Abbey Hsu who recorded a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds, including six three-pointers. Hsu was named as a member of the All-Tournament Team. Fellow teammates Cecelia Collins and Kitty Henderson recorded 13 points apiece.

Princeton jumped out to a five-point lead at the end of the first and maintained its advantage throughout the second. Columbia cut it to four (29-25) off a Collins three at the 4:15 mark. The third quarter proved to be the turning point of the matchup as Princeton outscored the Lions 21-12 in the frame. From there, the Tigers cruised in the fourth with another 20-point quarter to capture the tournament title.

Overall, the Tigers shot 29-for-58 from the field (50%) with a 5-for-13 effort (38.5%) from beyond the arc. From the charity stripe, Princeton finished 12-for-17 (70.6%). Columbia shot 20-for-53 (37.7%) from the floor, 10-of-23 from deep (43.5%) and 8-for-9 from the free throw line (88.9%).
