PRINCETON, N.J. – On the second night of another back-to-back Ivy weekend, Princeton, Yale, Brown and Harvard earned victories.
Three Ivies – Yale, Cornell and Princeton – are in a three-way tie at the top of the Ivy League standings at 9-2 and Harvard and Brown are tied for fourth place at 5-6.
With three teams already securing a spot in Ivy Madness, one spot remains and Brown showed they are a force to be reckoned with as the Bears snagged a 78-74 win over Cornell who was leading the Ivy League heading into the night. The Bears dominated on the boards, 45-36, and received a massive performance from
Kalu Anya who finished with a game-high 23 points and 17 rebounds.
Nana Owusu-Anane also finished with a double-double that included 15 points and 13 rebounds.
In Hanover, Princeton defeated Dartmouth by a score of 68-56. Dartmouth owned a 34-30 lead at the half, but the Tiger defense shut down the Big Green in the final 20 minutes, limiting the Big Green to 6-of-20 from the field while also shooting 54-percent on the offensive end. Four finished in double figures for Princeton including
Caden Pierce who posted his second double-double of the weekend with 22 points (8-of-17 FG) and 11 rebounds. For Dartmouth,
Dusan Neskovic had 20 points to lead the Big Green.
Yale bounced back on Saturday night and took a 84-76 win over Columbia in a tight affair at Levien Gymnasium. Both teams finished shooting over 50-percent overall and over 60-percent from the field in the second half. Yale received 20-point performances from both
Danny Wolf and
Matt Knowling as Wolf also corralled nine rebounds while Knowling dished out a team-high seven assists. Columbia saw a solid night from
Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa who finished 8-of-11 from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc for a game-high 23 points.
In another game with Ivy Madness clinching implications, Harvard bested Penn, 74-70. As a team, Harvard made 27 free throws (27-of-32).
Chisom Okpara led the Crimson in scoring with 20 points while
Malik Mack tallied 15 points and
Justice Ajogbor netted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
